A friend of ours was shot today.  Eight bullets in his body.  His lungs and kidneys are compromised.  His left arm and legs will be OK soon.

It's incredible how something like this, when the life of a person you care about is endangered, can inmediatly change everything else around you.  Even your priorities and other stuff simply lose importance.

The shock associated with this kind of life-threatening occurence is tremendous, and has a profound effect on our psyche. Everything else really does seem to lose importance as we reflect the gravity of what has happened.

What's important right now is the fact that your friend is alive, which to me is wonderful and remarkable news, given the horrible injuries inflicted on his body. We humans are tougher than we are led to believe.

My thoughts are with you, my friend, just as yours are with your friend.
