That's what I thought; but you know? I've been reading some excellent yaoi fanfiction these past few days (:P) and in both stories, by different authoresses, they mention the respect Byakuya feels towards Ukitake and say that it's because Ukitke was his sensei.
I have to admit that it made sense, since in the story, when Yourichi tells Ukitake to take care of Rukia (I think it was her, my memory fails me right now), Byakuya doesn't do anything to fight Ukitake...mmm....I thought it may have been some canon thing, but then I guess it's just fanom :P
Loved it anyways, I like the idea of Ukitake being Byakuya sensei somehow *.*
I guess I gotta continue reading more Bleach fanfiction. Any recs?
It depends though, I believe that Jyuushirou was Byakushi's sempai (as in an elder, a guide, but not his fully-fledged sensei), and thus he pays him a little bit of respect. But, since Byakushi has a pole up to his ass (XD), he actually insulted Ukitake when he turned his back on him saying that he hadn't the time to fight the likes of him (just when Yoruichi grabs Ichigo and flees from the Tower that held Rukia).
And as for recs, it depends on the pairing too. In my memories I have tons of Bleach fanfics that I held dear because of the pairing (het :P) and the situation. Feel free to peruse those! ;D
I wouldn't mind Ukitake being Kuchiki's sensei, I mean, after all, Yamamoto-san says he and Kyoraku Taichou are by far two of his best former students and captains, so...it doesn't sound all that strange for me.
