I wonder if they know they're doing that? I mean, you can only write about what you know about, I think. The more you know about something, the more you can realistically write about it.

well i have a theory: Most writers are woman. It is difficult to us to portray a gender we basically don't live. but I agree with you. it is awful when slash writers do that. Basically two lesbians dressed in drag. xD
And that's why I kind of started to hate on whole genre - I'm far too old to waddle through the swamp of shit in search of rare gems. :-S
I'd also love to corner some samples of this disgusting trend and show them my armchair psychologist madskillz, all of them. Like, tell them they're deeply closeted lesbians or self-hating, misogynistic masochists or something.
