Well, I started just like you, asking about DW. As far as I've understood, it's an alternative to LJ because of the things they've been doing lately, and the wish of some people to abandon LJ. I still can't get DW, but we'll see if it'll be necessary in the future or what. For now, I'm stuck with LJ.
