I'm not a mother, don't want to be one, but one can't help it and share others' pain,though it'll never be the same. Ever.

This afternoon, one of my subordinates and friend suffered a terrible loss.  His nine-year old son was run over by a car.  It was a terrible, terrible accident.  The whole place is still in shock.  We can't believe this happened.

*sigh*

Que tu alma descanse en paz, querido Salomón,  Que el tiempo y el amor que hay en tu familia, les ayude a tus papás y a tu hermanito y hermanita menores, a encontrar la tranquilidad y la fuerza para seguir sus vidas sin ti y que el sosiego llegue al pensar en lo afortunados que fueron por compartir una parte de sus vidas contigo.

This is the kind of thing that no parent should go through. It's a terrible thing.

I remember the love a child feels for a parent, and I've experienced the pain of losing a parent, but being childless myself, I can only imagine the love a parent feels for a child, or the terrible pain of losing a child.

My heart goes out to your friend and his family. I know all of you will be comforting him at work.

It must be. I can sympathise but I don't think I'll ever actually know the feeling and I sure hope no parent should go through it. I couldn't go to the mass today, but they say he was broken...*sigh*
