Books and e-books

I love it when people lecture me about how reading an actual book is so much better than reading an e-book. I don't disagree with the fact that the actual book is better. As a matter of fact, I love books. My whole life is linked to a book.  However, I've had a Kindle for a few years now and I love it. Working on cruise ships has made it quite hard to buy every book I want and carry it around, so having a bunch of books I could read during a five or six-month contract was a plus. Also, although Spanish is my first language, I just hate reading translations from books in either English or French; plus, I can't find the original in those languages available in my country; and if I do, it's way too expensive.

So, yeah, I love it when they lecture me about it. I do think the smell and the feel of a book in your hands is priceless. I remember someone telling me once: 'you're not going to buy one more book until you've finished reading every book you already have in your library'. I actually did it.

Still, it's just like, not enough.

So, when this happens, I just can't wait for people to finish so I can go back to my kindle and keep on being hooked by a lovely story I just can't put down.  Perhaps next time I'll find a book in the bookstore I just can't go home without...even if it's a translation.

Really people need to butt out. I love my kindle, but like you, love an actual book too. Loving one doesn't mean pushing the other aside.
