Give a Damn

I saw the video over at ontd_trublud about Anna Paquin saying she's bi.  I can't help but say I'm proud of her saying that because of the purpose behind her saying it.  I went to the website and saw that it's about bringing people from all sexual orientation, especially straight people to care about equality.

It moved me, since it's something we as a family have been struggling for years. Since my older sister came out of the closet, we've had to just fight society alongside her.  And it's funny how the people who once dared rejected her, ended up coming to terms with the whole situation.  My mum being the first.

I personally hate when people with different orientation feel the need to come out.  Don't get me wrong, I hate it because I think that's so natural and person to each person, that respect should be theirs and people shouldn't be surprised when someone says s/he is gay. 

Ricky Martin just came ou of the closet and I couldn't be any happier.  At least he'll live his life now without fear; and after reading that's why he'd done it, I felt proud too.

Again, I believe who you like is SO your problem, that people shouldn't judge you and being an obstacle.  That's why I signed up for the Give a Damn campaign.

Hopefully more people will do so and I do think one day, equality will be a reality.
