HAPPY!!!!!
Mar. 9th, 2006 03:00 pmI'm so happy!!!
The Academic Director and the General Director of Colombo, where I work, have just told me they have nominated me to go to an exchange program to the U.S in 2007.
We still have to wait 'till September when they will tell us about the results, and the trip would be in March / 07 and it'd last three weeks, but anyways, just to know my bosses (the big ones) have thought of me as their first option is great.
Yes, I'm happy!!!!!!!!

At a relatively young age, Margarita has accrued an impressive record of providing EFL teaching to the future of Medellín. As a teacher and member of the curriculum development team at COMFAMA (a social welfare branch of the Colombian government) for four years, she played a crucial role in giving young learners the tools they need to enter university programs and eventually travel abroad for education reasons. Through a grant from the Bancolombia Fundation, she is currently teaching English to groups of primary school teachers so that they have the language proficiency necessary to teach English in their respective schools. The Colombian government mandates that all primary school teachers teach 2 hours of English whether they actually know the language or not, so Margarita’s work with these teachers helps gives them the foundation to pass this knowledge along to their students in a more successful manner. She is also part of the academic coordination team at the city’s bi-national center that receives more than 5,000 English language learners a month. Margarita has never traveled to the U.S. so this experience would be mark a significant professional growth for her, which in turn, would and the thousands of students she (...)

Date: 2006-03-09 02:02 pm (UTC)And the reference about your work makes me feel so proud of you, my friend. You have worked long and hard, and this recognition tells me that you have a very bright future in the ESL world.
By the way, I have some news for you too! In Oviedo on Wednesday, Sagrario asked me if I was going to work for them during the Cambridge exams this Summer. I said dure, I had such fun last year. Then today after a class, Carmen asked me if I'd thought of applying for the post of examiner, rather than vigilator. I am now.
Things are looking great for both of us.
*Bounces joyfully, holding hands with Ari and sings a variation of the silly rebel song from Woody Allen's Sleeper*
"Teachers are we,
Born to be free,
Just like the fish in the sea."
So, so, so happy for you, mo chroí.
Gra mór, your leprechaun.

Date: 2006-03-09 03:16 pm (UTC)*imagines Ari contemplating the Lincoln Memorial and all those other places, and then heading off on a plane to some amazing town, like Boston or San Francisco, maybe?*
This is going to be so good for you.
Can we call you tomorrow? I sooooooo want to speak to you.
By the way, St Patrick's Day is next Friday, not tomorrow, the following one.
Just think, St Patrick's Day 2007 you could maybe be celebrating it with new friends in a new city.
I'm quite over the moon!
*hugs Ari again, can't help it, I'm so happy for you*
Love you too, so much.
