Date: 2006-10-12 08:34 am (UTC)In each of these little tales you have captured a moment, its mood and essence, and you immerse the reader in it, all in the moment it takes to read.
I’ll never get tired of saying it, but you have a gift for words. Of course you are a storyteller.
In “Interior”, you describe meditation, that discipline I’ll only be able to imagine and never experience, in a way that really convinces me, one-with-the-world. Do you meditate?
In “Exterior” you invoke what are for me childhood memories of those long early-seventies Irish Summers (yes, it’s true, it doesn’t always rain in Ireland!), when it was bright at 5 am, and still bright at 11 pm, and a day at the seaside was a magical day. This one really made me smile. I imagine that the Aegean was nicer to swim in than the Irish Sea...
In “Horas” you invoke the passing of time by counting the seconds at the beginning and end of the piece, and in between you evoke one of my favourite books, “Alice in Wonderland”, and yes, you are right. Kanon falling down to the kingdom of Poseidon is just like Alice falling down the rabbit hole. What an astute observation. I was also reminded of “The Count of Montecristo”, when the character is trapped in that prison by the sea, Chateau D’If. The insaciable thirst for vengeance of the character in the novel and his determination to escape came back to me reading this piece. All this in 222 words?
In “Días” you describe the desire to escape from an indoctrination that makes Sanctuary seem like a scary place to be brought up in. Of course, the Saints were all born and raised to some extent in other lands, but they were all taken to Sanctuary and underwent terrible ordeals at the hands of their masters. Cruelty seems to be the norm among Athena’s minions, seperating children from their loved-ones and turning them into fighting machines... and I thought Athena was good...
In “Semanas” you remind us who is writing this, by inserting some characters of your own design, which I love. I know Phoebe and Selek from other works of yours. Now Charles. I wonder about that “recelo” and am sure you’ll be filling us in on that in the future. I really love these tie-ins. For me Selek is already a well-known character, and when Phoebe says “A Selek? Jamás, Charles. De eso estoy segura.” I could only smile, and think “Phoebe’s right” and wonder if you’’ll be telling more about those missions.
The drabble is a great tool for story telling, and you use it so well, my friend. So 92 more to go? Autumn is going to be an interesting season this year.
Grá mór, mo chroí.

I can't help it but use the characters I've created ^^ Have I told you I have new ideas for Athena's Saints? but well, just like with Eyes, I have to start rewriting most of it.
92 to go...wow, will I be able to finish those?
*faints*
Grá mór.

Date: 2006-10-12 08:07 pm (UTC)#04 me encanta.
