It really brought a smile to my lips watching this. Especially when the narrator speaks about the people, good people, people like you.
Your city alone looks like such an amazing place, and there's a whole wonderful country around it. We've so gotta visit Colombia, Ana and I.
A festival a day? Sounds like Asturias. In fact in the comarca, "Shire?" of Pola de Siero there is a fiesta every day during the Summer months. In Asturias, it's hard to know which fiestas to go to, hehehe. Most of them are village "Romerías" or "Verbenas", and lots of fun.
The video says so many wonderful things about your land, and each and every one made me happier and happier for you. That's your place, and I'm so happy you're there.
Sometimes I watch stuff related to Ireland, where I'm not right now, and I can't help thinking, that's where I should be. Seventeen years ago I came to Asturias as a youthful twenty-four-year-old adventurer, breaking out into the English-teaching world. Curious that I've stayed in the same town the whole time. I'm not such an adventurer, after all. I put down roots quicker than you can say that difficult word from "Mary Poppins".
I'm proud of my land, and in some small way, I'm proud of the way I've led my life. A while ago I was going over life stuff with someone, and wondering what my dad would think about my economical situation being the same all that time, and they said "Look at it this way; you've been living here for seventeen years, and you've never been arrested by the police."
"That's right." I responded, thinking back to my brief adulthood in Dublin, when I was once wrongfully arrested because the police didn't want to mess with the people trying to rob me.
I used to think Ireland was a peaceful place until I came to Asturias. I still plan to go back to my home town, but I'm so in love with this place. I mean everrywhere's different, and you can only be in one place at a time, and right now I'm fine here.
And you really seem fine there.
*happy hugs from a place its been raining in for two days"
Now it seems the clouds have broken, but it's too late to go for a walk along the sea-front. Maybe tomorrow.
